President Hinckley

"President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through twelve years of global expansion, has died at the age of 97 on January 27, 2008.

President Hinckley was the 15th president in the 177-year history of the Church and had served as its president since 12 March 1995."

President Hinckley was such a great example to me. I believe he was one of our church's most successful, cutest, dedicated, funny prophets of the Lord. He will be missed.

What was the hardest thing that happened to you this past year? Constantly having to bounce Landon the first three months of his life to keep him from screming...although I did lose all the baby weight within 4 weeks.
What is the best thing that happened to you this past year? Landon....once he reached 4 months and moving into a bigger house.
What is one thing you hope to accomplish this year? Get a more balanced life so that we have more family time.

Landon and I have started attending a class at the library that reads stories and sings songs for 0-12 month olds. We have learned some fun new baby rhymes and songs that I thought I would share with all those who are looking for something new to do with their little one.

Future Cook!

Landon loves to do whatever I'm doing so when I'm cooking I give him his own bowl and spoon to play with to stop him from constantly grabbing at mine. I really love his bumbo chair. I know lots of people say they are dangerous and that I should take it back to the store since they have been recalled, but I love the bumbo. He sits in it everyday while I get dinner ready...Of course my kitchen is small and I'm always close by just in case he tries to get himself out.

Yummy Mandarin Oranges

On Saturday we went to Hollister to pick mandarin oranges. This is a tradition for us. For the past three years we have picked oranges to give to our ward on Sunday. This year we had the help of a few other members. I'm really glad we did because Landon slowed me down quite a bit. He had fun for the first hour playing with the leaves on the trees and even trying out the oranges (peel and all), but then he needed a little more attention. It was definitely a different experience with a baby. Ryan and I weren't able to get into a long conversation about life like we usually do, but we still had fun. I really enjoyed the face Landon pulled when he tried the peeling!

The Runaway Stroller

Today it looked like a nice day, but the moment Landon and I stepped outside to go for our walk we realized that it was too windy for us and that we would have to walk elsewhere. So I loaded us into the car and we drove the 1/2 of mile to the Great Mall. After we went around the mall a few times (only stopping to buy a couple things, including a new outfit for Landon to get his pictures taken in) we decided to go back home. I loaded Landon into the car first. I put him in his carseat, buckled him, put his blanket around him, and gave him his pacifier. Then I turned around to get the stroller and it was GONE. Nowhere in sight! The first thought that came to my mind was that someone stole it, but then I realized that it was probably the wind. I locked Landon into the car and then went searching the parking lot frantically. After a few minutes the Home Depot guy yelled at me and pointed. Yes! He found my stroller....the wind had blown it half way across the parking lot (who knows exactly how). Actually, I think one guy knows....There was a guy sitting in his car parked right by me probably watching the whole thing. I don't know whether to be mad at him for not helping me or to be embarrassed. Anyway, I think I'll remember to use my parking brake from now on.

YaHoo For Sunny Days!

We've had three days of perfect weather (no rain, around 60 degrees) and I have loved it. It's been raining cats and dogs the last week and although, I am thankful for the rain, I love the sunny days when I can go outside and enjoy the fresh air. Landon does too (we both get a little cranky if we stay inside for too long). It felt so good to be able to get out on Friday and go for a long walk and then to the park, and on Saturday we went to play Frisbee golf with Mike and Cindy and to the park again. Landon loves to swing so as you may be able to tell, we go to the park often. Probably about every sunny day, if not twice a day. Boy am I glad to have a park right next to our house! New Blogger

So, like many people I know, one of my new year resolutions is to write in my journal at least once a week. I already know that I wouldn't last if I started my regular tradition of writing with pen and paper so I'm trying something new. I'm joining the blogging world. However, I'm still a little skeptical on how dependable the internet is so I have set up my account to send all my posts to my email where I will print them off (hopefully) and put them in a book called The Sharp Family journal. I think that this is the only way I can say that this is a journal, Right? Aren't journals supposed to be for generations to come and who knows if blogspot.com will be around in 10 years? For those who are interested in our family, Don't worry, I'll make this a happy journal that includes all the fun and exciting happenings of our family. I'm not a person that enjoys writing when I'm feeling down, anyway. I hope to follow this saying, "Every life has its dark and cheerful hours. Happiness comes from choosing which to remember". Let us all remember our cheerful hours and make 2008 a great year!
